One of the best practices he recommended was to create a diagram of your boat showing all of the thruhulls and seacocks.\u00a0 It’s a good aid to remember where everything is (the systems and seacocks are often behind bulkheads or in the bilges).\u00a0 I had my ipad with me (taking notes) and was able to quickly bring up this diagram.\u00a0 Of course, mine was a little over the top compared to what he was recommending.\u00a0 Anything worth doing is worth doing to an extreme.<\/p>\n
I made it when we first got the boat, mainly as a way of learning the boat and getting organized.\u00a0 And although I now know where everything is located, the crew often does not.\u00a0 We keep a laminated version on board as well.<\/p>\n
